Summary: EmScripten is an easy to use tool (compiler) which converts LLVM-Bitcode to JavaScript. We show how emScripten can be used (based on the example of predictive text) to port native code to JS, and show how the newly generated code can be integrated and used for the fast development of new webApps. Further we show the pros and cons of using EmScripten.
How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MozCampEU2012/Tracks): Showing people the tools to create new webApps without the need to reinvent the wheel.
Expected Outcome or Deliverable: Audience will understand how to integrate emScripten generated code in thei webApps.
Desired Audience Type or Skill-set: Fundamentals in compilers and basic JS knowledge.
