Asa Dotzler nominated the build team for their heroic efforts and forward progress in build automation that helped us ship 2007 in 6.25 days.

Development Updates

Fx 2.0.0.7 / 2.0.0.8

• Firefox 2.0.0.7 shipped last Tuesday, (9/18)
• Firefox 2.0.0.8 code freeze date has moved and it is to be decided. Very likely not shipping on Oct 4 as planned.

TB 3

• No Updates This Week

Gecko 1.9

• Currently tracking and focusing on security bugs in trunk. Fuzzers are identifying bugs, and we're down two from our all time high.
• Remimder that the M9 code freeze is Oct 16; however, we will enter Tree Control Level Red two weeks before the freeze, Tue. Oct 2nd (only a week away!). The means all checkins require end-game driver approval (MConnor, CBeard, Beltzner, Basil, Schrep, Damon, Vlad).

IT

• stage migration - Thursday, 7/27
• new peering fabric - any2 exchange. Should be up this week, many peering possibilities, including asia.
• new line to ISC in .nl - peering and faster transit. Thanks ISC!

Test Execution

• FFx 2.0.0.7 focus testing and live testing of this release on Tues. [abillings, juanb, tomcat, others]

• FFx 3:
  • Daily tiger test testing [tomcat, others]
  • Finishing up test plans and running new feature tests [tomcat, many others]
  • M8 testing. It was released wearly Thursday. [tomcat, many others]
• Tested the new career page (bug 396498)
• Completed Configuration Testing Strategy. This goes into detail about OS and profile configuration testing. [abillings, marcia]
• Special testing of a special Quicktime patch from Apple. This included compatibility with 2.x and 3.0.

Test Development:

• Added several OS integration test cases to Litmus. Test cases: 4685, 4692 [marcia]
• Working with Myk to cleanup and integration microsummaries test cases [marcia]
• Prepared the Test Plan for Facebook 0.5, ran through its test cases, and verified its fixed bugs/feature implementations [sdonner]
• Wrote a Test Plan for and ran through test cases for the Online Security Campaign; lots of issues found with the JS-disabled case [sdonner]

Tools and Infrastructure

• Performance:
  • Created steps to run talos standalone. This required some rewrites to parts of framecycler.html to work with the proxy server. Integrated dhtml (bug 397004)/svg (bug 397126)/gfx test sets provided by vlad. [alice]
  • Tested Alice's configuration patch for Talos bug 396232. Worked on Talos pageloader component generator bug 396095. Submitted patch to make Talos slaves auto-updating bug 396447 [bhearsum]
  • Tomcat will be the new performance sheriff and will monitor the performance results on a daily basis.
• JS test automation: got waterfall display for results working. [robcee, bc]
• Security test automation: made progress completing the automation of about 200 of the security tests. [tracy, bc]
• Setup a dashboard of the Top 4 performance comparison charts [timr]

Community

• Bug Day was held on Tues. [lead: tomcat]
• Test Day was held on Fri. The topic for test day was Site Specific Prefs / OS Integration, Next test day is this Friday and the topic is Security / Privacy. [lead: tomcat]

Misc

• Re-configured the QA lab after delivery of lab benches to replace the office furniture. [abillings, tchung, marcia, junab, stephen]
