Agenda
To discuss open issues we believe need clarifying before we can begin planning in earnest. Address to address are:
- Only technology related cause, or opening this wider
- Are we only talking about donated man hours, or goods? We would not be asking for any kind of financial donation - correct?
- Localization - how to tackle this? (10-12 most common languages)
- Should we tier the amount of hours pledged and contributed e.g. You are a Hero Mozillian, you donated 10 hours, or you are a Supporter Mozillan, you donated 1 hour. We could think of different tiers with nicer names.
- Should we encourage the country rivalry again - and show a map with the number of pledges to volunteer across the globe?
- Question of potential partners in case there a few we haven't thought of :)
Attendees
Mary / Jane -- John S, Alix, Barbara, Dave R
Notes
Volunteer/Contributor focus:
- Keep it technology-related -- it's our strength and a differentiator
- Will need to provide examples for both people/organizations in need and volunteers
- Will need to have someone managing what people want & are offering.
What type of contribution:
- Focus on hours of service, but people can donate product or money.
L10n:
- Will depend on whether platform is home grown or partner provided
- Nominate someone from the communities to become the CAD leader for their locale and make sure that everything is being posted is good.
Acknowledgment/tiering:
- Hours seems to be the consensus, but will need to figure out how to structure it.
Map:
- Geopolitical concerns to consider. Can do a borderless map, but will need a way for people to find something near them.
Potential partners:
- Kiva.org
- skype
- linked in
- UNESCO
- World Bank
- OLPC
- TechSoup
