Overview

Top Line Goals

  • Goal 1 - Increase retention of Firefox Users
    • Theory: Move Single-device sync users to Multi-device sync users
  • Goal 2 - Increase engagement ratio
    • Theory: Increase value of connected experience causes reduce switching to other browsers or apps

Synced Tabs

Tier 1 KPI - Success/Fail

  • Goal - Increase the value of sync to increase retention.
  • Theory - Multi-device users are more likely to be retained as their data is in the Firefox product ecosystem.
  • Question - Does this feature move single device to multi-device users?
  • Signals
    • count of single device sync user who sees UI
    • count of those users who click to install sync on a second device
    • count of single device users who moved to multi-device users
  • Action
    • If feature is succeeding, we may increase investment
    • If feature is failing, we will remove the feature

Tier 2 KPI - Engagement

Discovery

  • Goal: We want users to get value out of the sync by discovering the UI
  • Question: Are {all,sync} users finding the UI?
  • Signals:
    • count of opens (sidebar and door hanger)
    • histogram of location of synced tabs button (customize, menu, toolbar)
  • Action:
    • if users can't find UI: call out in tour, move it to toolbar if a sync users
    • if users can find it: are they engaging with it?
