Contributing by Contributors with Disabilities
Overview
Contributing can be wonderful, especially when there is a sense of community and of belonging when we contribute. However, if some of you have different abilities (formerly called "disabilities"), then some of you might know that sometimes, it can be a little different or even a little challenging to try to contribute due to the health problems, eye sight problems, hearing problems, cognitve problems, etc. But, it doesn't have to be difficult. I have started opting for closed captioned videos of meetings to be done for those who are hearing-impaired, and for programmes that can help visually-impaired, as well. That information will be updated, herein, for you. And I have brought an issue of that of making the documentation a little less difficult to understand of technical information so that not only could that information be less difficult for a lot of people, but so that it could also be less difficult for people with some disabilities, as well.
When contributing—whether paid or unpaid contributors—deadlines sometimes have to be met. But when those who are contributing have health problems, etc., that get in the way of being able to keep those deadlines, that could make it difficult to keep to a deadline(s). Soon, there might be a change to that—a possible compromise for those who, due to disabilities, need extensions on projects, or who have to step away from projects. New information that is learned about this will be added, herein.
