We're going to make all kinds of awesome projects

The Maker Bar will be an open space at Mozfest to learn and create cool projects on the web. It will also be the launchpad for the new Mozilla Popcorn.

There will be a hack-ready media lab with computers and creative support, plus professionally led sessions.

Come rock your skills and help others!

Help us build the next generation of webmakers, using your knowledge and passion for a better internet. You'll be helping folks create and remix using Thimble, X-Ray Goggles, and Popcorn. We'll also make sure you look good while doing it, with a free t-shirt.

Come find us on the 6th Floor, or send a tweet to Jacob @futuresoup

How to be a Maker Bar facilitator

  • Your most immediate job is to welcome people and get them acquainted with the space. The bar will either be open for general hacking, or there will be a 90 minute learning session taking place. If there is a session going on, look for late-comers and catch them up with what is happening. If people are interested in playing with the computers but don't want to interrupt the session, let them know when it's okay to come back.
  • You'll also be there to answer questions, Jacob will brief you on the most common answers. If there's something you're unsure about, don't be shy to ask him, or direct people to him.
  • Keep an eye out for problems with equipment, and report them as soon as possible. Information on reporting software bugs can be found here
  • We'd love to get an idea of the great things folks are making! If someone seems really proud of their project, encourage them to submit it to - http://mozillawebmaker.tumblr.com/submit - for a chance to be featured by Mozilla. You can also keep tally of cool projects on this etherpad
  • Have fun and be proud of all the positive neurons you are enabling :)
