1. Mozilla Drumbeat

Overall goal: Introduce Drumbeat to the world. Build projects and community.

Objective #1: Find projects that excite us. Mostly from people we don't know yet.

Milestones

  • First round of project grants announced. (July) (MS)
  • Web Made Movies pilot released at Whistler. (July) (BG)
  • Shuttleworth / Mozilla fellow selected and announced. (August) (MS)
  • Web Made Movies lab roadmap in place, popcorn.js defined (August). (BG,DH)
  • Second round of P2PU web craft courses start (September)(PS,PB)
  • P2PU WC competency and accreditation vision released in 0.1 (September) (AB)
  • Universal Subtitles beta version released (September) (NR)
  • Project budgeting and tracking system in place (KG)
  • 5+ project based communications activities completed and evaluated (August) (NJ)

Targets

  • 3 bootstrap projects that demo Drumbeat showing early results. (MS)
  • 2 bootstrap projects from Europe or Brasil online. (HM)
  • 5 new project volunteer opportunities listed in main E2 channels monthly.(BG,NR,PS,MT)
  • 100 identifiable and active project volunteers by the end of Q3.(projects+MT)

Objective #2: Establish events a way to explain Drumbeat, recruit participation.

Milestones

  • Clear, simple way for people to do Drumbeat talk or meetup (July) (NJ)
  • Integration of Drumbeat content in to rest of Moz local event strategy (NJ)
  • Version 0.5 of 'Event Kit' based on organizer feedback (August) (AG,NJ)
  • Drumbeat Festival program and mini-site released (August) (MS?)

Targets

  • 15 cities have done local events or meetups (NJ,AG)
  • 5 cities have done second local event (NJ,AG)
  • 1000+ people have attended Drumbeat events, we have names (NJ,AG)
  • 300 people have signed up for Drumbeat Festival. (MS?)

Objective #3: Build a flexible online platform for Drumbeat projects and events.

Milestones

  • Roadmap for transition to post-Drupal site & real community development (July) (PO)
  • Scalable and stable infrastructure that won't break under volume (July) (PO)
    • Civi Dontate fixed or new donation system deployed (July) (PO,KG,CN)
  • Event organizers can easily manage and promote events from within drumbeat.org (Aug)
  • Donations and newsletters reliably sent through CRM or similar system (Aug) (PO)
  • Robust participation workflow & evidence of success for bootstrap projects (Aug) (MT)
  • Improvements from bootstrap project pages rolled across entire site (Aug) (MT)
  • Ability to easily find projects and people by skills & topics (Sep) (MT)

2. Mozilla Story

Goal: Strengthen Mozilla as leading public charity protecting the open Internet.

Objective #1: Inspire people to donate to the Mozilla cause

  • Second t-shirt campaign push (September) (CN)
  • Launch Firefox 4 Tumucumaque Parks Page (August/September) (CN,DB)
  • Drumbeat/Mozilla content in Engagement Newsletter (Monthly) (CN)
  • Launch and integration into E2 e-mail platform (August) (CN,KG)
  • Membership program vision clear, rodmapped (MS,CN,E2)

Targets

  • Get to 10,000 total individual donors (yearly target 17,000) (CN)
  • Get to 250K of funds raised from individual donations ( yearly 500K) (CN)
  • Sell 2500 T-shirts (yearly target 5000) (CN)
  • Get to 30,000 newsletter signups (yearly target 35,000) (CN)

Objective #2: Explain Mozilla as a cause. Make our story easy to understand.

3. Mozilla Core

Goal: Find simple and novel ways to make the existing Mozilla community more productive, cohesive and understandable.

  • EITHER get Trellon-based Mozillians to beta OR get non-Trellon-based Mozillians project coding started. (GM)
  • Complete, get agreement on and deploy Module Ownership admin system. (GM)
  • Get Bugzilla Consortium off the ground and fundraising. (CN, GM)
  • Get Commit Access Policy finally nailed down and implemented (GM)
  • Run community surveys at Summit and process results into an action plan (GM)
  • Figure out whether work is needed to make branch management in Bugzilla easier (GM)
