Meeting Details

Talking Points

  • Action item follow-up
  • LREC prepwork
    • Designed alliance with MT project partners
  • Updates on backgrounder - https://intellego.etherpad.mozilla.org/backgrounder
  • Seneca meeting update
    • Met with top-level people at CDOT (http://cdot.senecacollege.ca/). Pitched Intellego to them. They have several cohorts of Brazilian (and other international) students taking courses in open source development practices at CDOT. They also have a requirement to get a certain number of "practical experience" hours for their program. They are excited about Intellego and are interested in socializing it upwards at Seneca College (http://www.senecac.on.ca/) to possibly get other departments on board and visibility in the president's office for promoting Seneca internationally
    • Timeline is 12 months until the students will be ready to participate
    • Seneca has other Mozilla projects (for example, WebVTT, Webmaker, etc.) where they have their top-A+ students with deep coding experience contribute. Intellego is a good opportunity for the broader mass of students to leverage their native language abilities (for example Brazilian Portuguese) to contribute to translation.
    • Msaad knows the Seneca program well (he graduated from it), so he can help coordinate, especially the Brazilian students.
  • Testing automatic translation build
    • Testing try build from Felipe. Email Jeff if you want help.
