About The SDK
Right now, this SDK is for people who know how to use a command-line shell, as the development tools are only usable from there. We're also working on a web-based development environment called FlightDeck that will make it even easier to collaborate and build real Firefox extensions, in the spirit of the original Jetpack Prototype's user interface—but that's not ready quite yet.
First, obtain the SDK in your favorite compression format:
Once you've got that, just unpack the archive, open the jetpack-sdk/README.txt file, and follow its instructions.
The following major issues have been reported for 0.1, and will be fixed in a forthcoming bugfix release:
- Python error when running cfx test on Windows
- --no-quit option doesn't work w/ cfx on Windows
- Syntax errors in modules don't raise tracebacks or line numbers
Note that this is a very early release of the Jetpack SDK, and as such its developer ergonomics aren't yet where we want them to be. It's likely that many things you try won't work and you'll have no idea why; this isn't your fault! Please file a bug and we'll try to fix it.
