Major Update Test Results: Firefox 2.0.0.16 to Firefox 3.0.1 on beta for all locales available in 20016

The focus of this is to make sure the major update dialogs look OK during major update for all locales available in 20016 for which there is a major update offer. We will focus on tier 1 locales, to prioritize the work, but we'll try tier 2 and tier 3 locales as time permits.

Instructions

• Download and install the latest Fx2.0.0.16, and launch it with a new profile.
• Install at least one add-on that is compatible with both Firefox 2.x and Firefox 3.x, and at least one add-on that is not compatible with Fx3.x
• Change the update channel to beta
  • To do this edit the channel-prefs.js file and edit it's release channel preference from "release" to "beta"
    • Example: In Windows XP you can find the channel-prefs.js file in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js
  • Restart the browser so this preference change takes effect.
• Once you restart the browser select "Check for Updates" from the Help menu
• Make sure all dialogs look OK during major update
• NOTE: This is for MU testing purposes only. Please do not modify any files if you are not actively testing with the Mozilla QA team. Thanks!

Results on beta

• Go through the list of available locales in Firefox 20016 in the Mozilla 2.0.0.16 download page
• We will start with Tier 1 locales first: List of Fx3 Tier 1 Locales
