This page will track declaring the latest mozilla-beta build as the final in this cycle and starting the build off of the mozilla-release repository.

Please note that issues found in the final moments of the beta period may still require us to rebuild before release

Focus Areas

Tracking Details

  • bug 752266 – Firefox startup crash in nsFileInputStream::Read
    • #19 top crasher in our most recent betas, and a startup crasher
    • Also jumped in FF12, must be a 3rd party issue
    • Josh/Bob have been contacted for help with directing QA attention and performing code analysis.
  • bug 757262 – Youtube keeps playing audio after closing & bug 756250 – Netflix keeps playing after closing
    • Email out to the company asking for reproducible cases
    • Have a speculative fix on nightly, but won't consider taking (or respinning a beta) unless we get verification it fixes the problem (QA?)

Stability

Current Status

  • 13.0b6 still has very few ADUs so it will take a few days for the crash data to show anything significant
    • http://tinyurl.com/8yp3av8 signature has increased throughout the betas. Still relatively low volume but we should keep on eye on it.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

  • bug 752266 stands at #24 top crash in Beta 5 data, still not much to go on.

Mobile specific stability notes


QA

Current Status - Desktop

Beta (test plan)

  • Features, functionality, and stability seem to be okay; nothing stands out as a blocker
  • 22 functional and 8 security fix verifications remain
  • Mac 10.8 testing did not yield any bugs
    • Q (akeybl): All upgrade scenarios completed?
  • Win 8 testing revealed several problems:
    • Plug-in list not updating until several restarts
    • Trailers on Apple.com not playing
    • Tabs changing colours
    • Unable to set Firefox as the default browser
    • Q. Are these issues concerning? Should they block Firefox 13?
      • A. They are certainly concerning and deserve further investigation. However, I don't believe it should block Firefox 13 given that Win8 is not a release platform. (Agreed -akeybl)

ESR (test plan)

  • Haven't looked at functionality/stability, we tend to wait for Candidates
  • Primary ESR testing focus has been around bug fix verifications
  • 7 functional and 16 security fix verifications remain

Outstanding Issues/Concerns - Desktop

  • bug 756289 Netflix video errors "you are viewing from more than one tab"
    • NEW, still no luck tracking down STR or regression window
  • bug 756250 Netflix keeps playing after closing
    • Fixed by patch in Youtube bug? Unable to confirm tryserver build and would need another to verify.
  • bug 757262 Youtube keeps playing audio after closing
    • RESOLVED FIXED, but we don't have a reproducible case
    • Maybe we can get a try build for commenters to test?
  • bug 759721 Firefox 13 Beta 6 causes Windows XP menus to hang
    • UNCONFIRMED, I'm investigating this now
  • bug 759689 Flash content is not loaded using Flash 11.3 Beta
    • NEW, seems to happen on Win7 RTM only (Win7 SP1 unaffected)
  • Are we going to rel note the signing of Mac builds?
