3.6Br4 Test Plan

Major Update Testing

We will track test results for major updates from Firefox 3.0.15 and 3.5.5 to 3.6b4 here. So far a test run and spreadsheet for the 3.0.15->3.6b4 case has been added, but we will need one for 3.5.5->3.6b4 as well. The latter ones have yet to be created.

Instructions

  • Download Firefox 3.0.15 or 3.5.5
  • Install it and change the update channel to majortest (if you are updating from 3.5.5) or minortest (if you are updating from 3.0.15)
  • Restart the browser and select "Check for Updates" from the Help menu
  • Run the major update 3.0.15 to 3.6b4 test run
  • Make sure all user data is preserved or make a note of what is not.
  • Use major-updated Firefox 3.6b4 and verify that it works as expected.

Change the update channel to majortest and check for major updates. Details pages should be localized.

This involves going from 3.5.6 to 3.6b4 through the minortest channel. A similar spreadsheet should be used for these.

Unsupported OSs (Make sure MU is not presented) on majortest

There haven't been changes in OS support between 3.0x and 3.6.
