Getting into the tree: There is a tree of accounts that you need to join before anything will be displayed. How to get your account installed there? "Other" accounts are added through the "New Account Setup" page, chrome://messenger/content/AccountWizard.xul

That page has an RDF datasource that is used to generate the listing of account types on that page. For an example, see mxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mailnews/extensions/newsblog/rss.rdf

The file "rss.rdf" should occur in a subdirectory named "isp" off of your main extension install location.
