Mozilla IDP (aka. VinzClortho) (Benson)

What I worked on:

What I'm working on:

  • Working on improving deployment of Moz-IDP scripts. ie: AMI creation. I may not do this and come back to it after Grand Unification Week. They are good enough, and I can deploy them to different regions quickly using CLI EC2 tools.
  • Getting the Moz-IDP production systems up.
    • Creating of ELB's for each region (for SSL termination)
    • Creating Route53 settings to
      • DNS latency based balancing of access
      • DNS failover, turns off a region if it is having connectivity issues

Blockers:

  • need the latest SL6.3 AMI in these regions:
    • us-east-1
    • us-west-1
    • eu-west-1
  • need Identity team to decide on hostname for service, ie: login.mozilla.org
    • need SSL cert for that in ELB
    • need DNS delegation for that to Route53 to the hostname: login-prod.allizomaws.com
    • need monitoring and checks set up for that SSL cert

Heka

  • Tagged 0.2rc1 & 0.2rc2 releases, documented / improved release process slightly
  • Fixed sandbox code failures on 32 bit systems
  • Merged first external contribution
  • Lots of improvements in Heka reporting / self monitoring
  • Merged AMQP input / output infrastructure
  • Nearly done getting LogfileInput to pick up where it left off in a given log file
  • Fixed some performance / blocking issues

Sync (telliott)

Things are not what they seem...

SimplePush (jr)

  • Added simple test harness, install scripts, minor documentation to pushgo.
  • Apparently picked up my first outside contributor.
  • Upcoming code review & deploy

EU team (alexis, hannosch, tarek)

  • Having fun with PostGIS
  • Mobile network standards seem to have evolved to make device-based location lookup as hard as possible

Sync Server (jbonacci)

  • Still helping out Dev and OPs with Sync issues:
    • Bug 866573 - Deploy trial server-storage nodes in AWS; server-storage -> 1.16-2, server_core -> 2.13-5
    • Bug 875128 - LoadTestUser auth class, for bypassing auth in the loadtests
    • Bug 876038 - Test history limiting TrafficScript rule
    • Bug 875552 - Possible improvements to sync and loadtesting based on log crunching

Persona/SignIn/BigTent (jrgm)

  • AWS attempting to go live today
  • Gmail-bigtent prototyped and working on deploying in Q2

PiCL (jbonacci)

  • Researching architecture for PiCL Client, IdP, and Server
  • Focusing on SimplePush/Notifications, IdP, Heka, etc. this short week

SimplePush (jbonacci)

  • Looked at PiCL's quick implementation of SimplePush last week
  • Looking at JR's server-side work this week

Heka (kthiessen/jbonacci)

  • jbonacci:
    • Working with Rob this week on some Heka testing ideas
    • Next week and after - focusing on Heka for PiCL-IdP and PiCL-Server
