Outlook Express can import vcf files, just open the address book window and drag your vcf files into the window. From there you can easily use the import-from-outlook-express tool in thunderbird
Some address book programs use a vCard format, which cannot be imported directly by Thunderbird. However, you can convert the format to others which can be imported by Thunderbird. One suggestion is to use a [http://labs.brotherli.ch/vcfconvert/ online conversion utility] to convert the vCard format to LDIF, then import the LDIF format in Thunderbird.
