A long standing issue with SFx is that the code/DB schema makes user names case-sensitive, meaning duplicates can be created (e.g. alex, Alex, AleX, ALEX, etc)

This means that SFx user name functionality is different from Drupal core, which blocks our migration to Drupal v6. Also, this is just generally bad data validation practice.

Timeline

This needs to be revised for milestone 3.1, dates are currently inaccurate

  • Dec. 4:
    • Mary to hand off custom message affected users will see when logging in.
    • Paul to enable ability to change user name.
    • IT to run query on how often these users login
  • Dec. 10: Test script & custom message
  • Dec. 12: Announce transition (see promotion section)
  • Dec. 29: Implement transition

  • Email to affected users
  • Show message on SFx to affected users when they log in
