Backport possible?

I'm new to this wiki, so i just begin with my query. Is it possible to install this NewMailAlerts box into Thunderbird 1.5.0.x? Maybe as an extension?

Mail.appetizer like?

I was using Apple Mail before Thunderbird. I miss so much the Mail.appetizer extension and his notification feature! It's probably too late to make something like this for TB 2.0 but it was perfect.

Nice addition but needs options

I like the new notifier but it needs the ability for user customized options. Such as display time, size, and which accounts to do it with. Also when multiple messages come in the ability to page through them.

Personally I would set it to always remain on screen untill user input closes it. And to goto the message instantly with a click.

Filter support

In addition to the options mentioned above, I'd very much like to see a filter action for "Suppress notification" and "Display notification", overriding whatever is specified in the general or per-account notification settings.

For example, as of v2.0.0.16, Thunderbird does not display notifications for messages that are moved to a local folder by a filter. I'd like to be able to add a filter action that overrides this behaviour.

Linux Support

This feature seems nice and really useful, however it still doesn't seem to work in Linux. Are there any plans to get this working out of the box in Linux? What would be required to get this working? If it wouldn't be too complicated, I might be able to help out.
