:Good suggestion about making the different types of discussions easy to find. The Forums page on www.mozilla.org has a way to link to all three options at once -- for instance, see http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/#announce -- so we could pull out relevant forums for where you are in the universe and link to the relevant section of that Forums page. -- David | :Good suggestion about making the different types of discussions easy to find. ::Ah, so that's why I couldn't find that page. It is mentioned in the footer all right, but under "Forums", which to me means a ''web'' forum (see e.g. http://forums.mozillazine.org/ ) and while searching for ''newsgroups'' (Google or NNTP) and ''mailing lists'' I never thought that "Forums" might be it. Wouldn't there be some more all-encompassing term? "Peer-to-peer support" maybe? Or "Discussion groups"? — [[User:Tonymec|Tonymec]] 23:47, 19 July 2011 (PDT) | ::Ah, so that's why I couldn't find that page. * There may well be a better generic term. I wasn't involved in the terminology here, but I think something like 'list' or 'group' felt too close to specific tools such as the mailing list or newsgroup. Gerv is the one who owns that forums page, so he'd be a good person to talk to. -- David | |||

Mailing lists / Newsgroups?
Mozilla discussions are available three ways, mirrored to each other:
- Google groups
- NNTP newsgroups
- Mailing lists
I use one of them, I know about another, and I'm vaguely aware of the third. If I wanted to give pointers to all three, so that, in answer to a support question, I could give the user the choice, where would I find them? IMHO an easily discoverable link to them on this proposed "universal tab" would be a useful thing. — Tonymec 14:16, 17 July 2011 (PDT)
