Follow the following simple steps to install an integrated calendar into Thunderbird. This walk-through is intended for English speakers using Windows or Linux.

  • Visit the Calender Project Home.
  • In the "Lightning" section on the page, click on the link that says the OS (Operating System) you are using (e.g Windows, Linux x86).
  • You will reach the Lightning download page.
  • Right click on the green "Install Now" on the page.
  • Select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" and select a temporary place to put the file.
  • Launch Thunderbird.
  • In Thunderbird 2.0 menu, click on Tools -> Add-ons.
  • The Add-ons box will pop up. Click on the "Install..." button in the lower left hand corner of the Add-ons box.
  • Navigate to the directory where you saved the file.
  • Select the file and click on "Open".
  • Close the Add-ons box and Thunderbird.
  • Start Thunderbird again.

Congratulations, your calendar should now be correctly installed. You may now look at the other tutorials.
