Goals
Create Mozilla-hosted release channels for Beta and GA releases of Fennec, where users can download and install Firefox for Android without having to go through another app store.
- Users who download through these channels should receive all updates to the browser, as normal.
What's needed?
- Web landing pages or links for Beta and GA Firefox for Android releases (presumably as part of the http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/ site?)
- PR/Marketing involvement for when these are available
- Build & release - update channels
Justification
- Not all Android users can use the Google Play store, so we want to provide an official, Mozilla-controlled alternative so we can reach these users and ensure they receive all browser updates.
Quality criteria
- No user-perceptible performance degradation
- All goals are met
- All user stories are implemented & tested
