Usage
{{IRC}} creates a link to an IRC channel on a custom server, or (by default) Mozilla's IMO server (irc.mozilla.org), under the irc:// protocol.
Parameters
There are 2 parameters, both unnamed, of which 1 is required and 1 is optional.
Syntax
The template's syntax is
{{IRC|irc channel|irc domain address}}
Required parameter
1
- IRC channel
For the template to work, you need to enter the name of the channel you want to link to. If you link to a channel on IMO, this is the only parameter you need to specify.
- Note
- Do not include the number sign ("hash"). That is inserted automatically.
- Usage
{{IRC|irc channel}}
Optional parameter
2
- IRC domain address
You can, optionally, enter a custom IRC server domain address to an external IRC service, as the 2nd parameter.
- Note
- This parameter must be placed after the 1st parameter (the IRC channel name), or the link will break.
- Usage
{{IRC|irc domain address}}
Examples
Correct use
| Case | What you type | What you see | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| IRC channel on IMO | {{IRC|l10n}} |
#l10n | |
| External IRC channel | {{IRC|foochan|fooirc.foo.moz}} |
#foochan on fooirc.foo.moz |
