The Mozilla Reps Council is the governing body that sits on top of the Mozilla Reps organizational structure. It oversees the general management of the program globally. Its specific duties and functions are to:
- provide governance and support structure to assist Mozilla Reps worldwide
- oversee global activities
- oversee global budget management for events, swag
- nominate global membership administrator
- resolve disputes
- provide guidance and inspiration for Mozilla Reps
Election/Designation of Council Members
The 7 Mozilla Reps sitting on the council are elected/designated by the Mozilla Rep community for 3/6/12 month terms (TBD). This election process will be set in place during a later phase of the Mozilla Reps this year (Phase 2 - summer of 2011), when the program has reached maturity and a sufficient number of Mozilla Reps have signed up.
NB: because ReMo is still in its infancy the exact election/designation process of the ReMo Council still needs to be defined, keeping in mind that the council needs to be representative and chosen democratically. This process will be the object of future meetins on IRC and discussions on the ReMo mailing list. It goes without saying, recommendations on how to best create a representative council are most welcome!
Provisional Council
During the initial phase Mozilla Reps program (Phase 1), a provisional council has been set up by the Mozilla Reps project leads (William and Pierros), comprised of 7 Mozilla Reps (who have volunteered to join the council and designated by the project leads) and William and Pierros themselves.
Each Mozilla Rep on the provisional council was designated based on the following criteria:
- initial interest expressed in ReMo and participation in early planning discussions
- experience contributing to the Mozilla project
- geographic location
Provisional Council Members
- Brian King (Slovenia)
- Guillermo Movia (Argentina)
- Majken Connor (Canada)
- Pierros Papadeas (aka liknus) (Greece)
- Rami Khader (Jordan)
- Ruben Martin (Spain)
- Viking Karwur (Indonesia)
- Vineel Reddy (India)
- William Quiviger (France/Philippines)
Tasks and Responsibilities of Provisional Council Members
Members of the council have specific tasks to complete and responsibilities to take once they join the council, including:

- contact applicant via email (council designates mentor based on region/number)
- schedule a short IRC meeting the same week for a short interview
- give Go/No-go after consulting with council and performing background check
- in case of a No-Go, inform applicant via email about decision
- in case of Go: inform applicant of next steps via email
- guide applicant through process of creating wiki profile, subscribing to mailing list and providing walk-through of main ReMo Tools and SOPs
- participate in short bi-weekly IRC meetings to discuss overall status and roadmap of the program
- possibly attend ReMo work week(s) to meet in person, brainstorm and discuss future of the program (NB: no date or location have been determined nor has any budget been allocated yet)
