Purpose
Discuss proposed Mozilla 2010 Goals. Generate and document ideas to feed back into the goal setting process.
Background
Mozilla is currently in the process of setting broad, aspirational goals for the next two years. So far, goals have been suggested in four areas:
- Deepen Mozilla’s role as a centerpiece of the open Internet
- Provide leadership in data
- Mobile
- Continue Firefox mindshare and marketshare momentum
Proposed goals in these areas are listed in a blog post by Mitchell Baker. Other people have suggested goals related to Mozilla Foundation, support and other areas.
Session Format
The 2010 Goals session will be organized as a bazaar. For each major goals theme, there will be a bazaar stall with a host. People are invited to go to the stalls that most interest them to ask questions, engage in discussions or post thoughts on the walls. The stalls will include:
- Mozilla and the open Internet (general) - facilitated by Tristan Nitot
- Data - facilitated by Chris Beard
- Mobile - to be announced
- Firefox mindshare and marketshare - to be announced
- Mozilla Foundation and ideas 'beyond product' - facilitated Mark Surman
There is also the opportunity for people to add stalls on new themes. Contact Tristan Nitot or Mark Surman if you'd like to do this.
Capturing Feedback
Each of the people hosting a bazaar stall will be responsible for writing up what they heard on the 2010 Goals wiki. Tristan and Mark will also present an overview of feedback gathered at the end of the day on Sunday.
