This is an overview of plans for Mozilla Core.

Summary

  • Description: Mozilla Core is focused on strengthening and growing the Mozilla community by making life better for existing contributors and by bringing in new contributors. The scope of this work involves communication, coordination, support and elimination of community pain points.

2010 Objectives

Make the Mozilla story easier to discover and understand

  • Activity: Make www.mozilla.org a top-tier community site.
    • Metric: 80% of content overlaps with mozilla.org and mozilla.com are resolved
    • Metric: 4 projects from community group's content priorities list completed
    • Metric: 5 most important pages localized into native language of 80% of visitors
  • Activity: Help the community transition to an integrated One Mozilla story.
    • Metric: Convene a community group focused on the process of owning and crafting an integrated story
    • Metric: Community style guide finished and progress made on other priorities identified by group

Bring new members in to the community

  • Activity: Identify, triage and address stumbling blocks in new contributor process.
    • Metric: 10% of inquiries from Get Involved forms result in a contribution
  • Activity: Continue to run and grow Mozilla Education initiative.
    • Metric: Double the number of students involved in Mozilla Education

Help existing community members be more productive

  • Activity: Identify, triage and address important community concerns and blockages, e.g. difficulties with Bugzilla.
    • Metric: Complete a community survey and/or interviews targeted at core audience measuring satisfaction with process
    • Metric: Issue-specific metrics, e.g. 5 clients written to use Bugzilla API and $100,000 raised in directed donations for Bugzilla
  • Activity: Create Mozillians.org to enable community members to know each other better.
    • Metric: 50% of committers have created an account on Mozillians.org
    • Metric: 3 community tools (e.g. Bugzilla, Tinderbox) integrated with Mozillians.org
