  • Online badges can provide more meaningful credentials than traditional grades and degrees
  • In the learning of the future, online peer assessment will replace face to face expert assessment

  • Badges are a more meaningful credential than grades (or perhaps even degrees).
  • Badges are positive motivators for learning
  • Online assessment can replace in-person assessment.
  • Online assessment can replace in-person, expert assessment. (from Gunner at P2PU assessment workshop)
  • Badges that are peer-based assessment recognitions can be just as meaningful as ones that are expert assessment recognitions. (How do we rephrase this?)
  • An appropriately designed badge system could replace formal curriculum
  • Anybody should be able to create badges in an online learning environment.
