SUMO staging:

Please focus only on things emanating from the two URLs, above -- i.e., don't worry about the homepage

SUMO milestone: 2.1 (list of open bugs) - please double-check that your issue isn't already reported, or not-yet finished

  • username: support, password: password

Resources:

Supported locales: English, Chinese (zh-TW), Deutsch (de), Español (es), Finnish (fi), Français (fr), Italiano (it), Japanese (ja), Korean (ko), Nederlands (nl), Norwegian (no), Polish (pl), Portuguese (pt-BR), Vietnamese (vi);

Regarding Localization: we're chiefly interested in language/locale auto-detection on /search and /forums; we haven't made changes to the other parts of the site this round; thanks!

Supported operating systems:

  • Anything which runs the supported browsers below:

Supported browsers:

  • Firefox 3.5, 3.6, Minefield (Firefox nightly trunk build)
  • IE 6, IE 7, IE 8
  • Google Chrome 4.1.249.1064 (or latest shipping version)
  • Opera 10.52
  • Safari 4.0.5

What to test:

  • Browser compatibility (functionality+layout) (in order of the above browsers)
  • Functionality - vague on purpose (it should be intuitive)
    • Logged in vs. logged out views
    • Roles (esp. Admin vs logged-in vs anonymous users)
    • Pagination
    • Time stamps (should be in PDT)
    • Search (the following should be indexed)
      • That posters' real names/usernames are found
      • Post titles
      • Body content of posts
    • Wiki markup (see supported list in bug 561524)
    • User Avatars load
    • Thread deletion
    • Posts deletion
    • Reply
    • If/when in doubt, just test what's there and try to break it -- you can't go wrong

What *not* to test:

  • Admin privs (ability to delete/edit forum posts)
  • RTL
  • Localization -- we only care about locale/language auto-detection, not missing strings

Caveats:

  • Searching will return things in the *old* forum, not the *new* forum, except for the special "discussion" tab in Advanced Search
