People:Global Onboarding
THIS PAGE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Short Description
In an effort to create a consistent, global, scalable way to onboard Mozillians, we have created the Onboarding portal as a container that houses all the information needed to fully assimilate into the culture and ramp up quickly.
Onboarding Project Goals
The Problem: At Mozilla, there is a ton of information out there. From blogs, to forums, to wiki pages, mana pages - about who we are, how to do things, what it means to be Mozillian. When you first join the project, how do you know where to start, or even what is accurate? Each Mozillian started with different information and understanding of the project depending on who they connected with during their first few days.
A Solution: We needed a global, scalable onboarding process that is consistent for every Mozillian. It would create a common language, set of tools and consistent information to ensure each new Mozillian is on-boarded efficiently and equipped for success.
Groundwork To Build The Container:
We spent lots of time asking many Mozillians what the most important information you need to know to understand, be effective and operate efficiently when you get involved with The Project. The portal is essentially the container that houses the collection of stories, videos, blogs, images and information Mozillians have selected as those must have pieces to be a Mozillian.
Going forward, all Mozillians will experience the same cultural assimilation, and will be exposed to the same tools and information. So whether you have been a long time contributor to the project, a recent addition to the family, paid staff, volunteer or both – understanding and being familiar with this information will help you connect, mentor and grow new Mozillians. It just may also fill in some gaps you didn’t know about Mozilla.
