A 3x3 grid with a gutter around each tile will be displayed in about:newtab page. If there is not enough space for the fixed size 243x150 tile and 32px gutters, rows and/or columns are removed.
In the Tile Grid, some tiles will be Top Sites (based on user frequency), and others will be Sponsored or Partner tiles.
The default number of rows/columns is 3.
*The number of rows/columns can be changed by entering about:config and changing the following parameters:
**browser.newtabpage.columns
**browser.newtabpage.rows
