Firefox Add-ons enable you to customize the features, functionality and look of your Web experience. More than 85 percent of Firefox users have at least one add-on installed and of those people with add-ons installed, they have an average of five add-ons. As of July 2012, there have been over 3 billion downloads of add-ons on AMO.

Event Type: Meetups

Add-on meetups are a great way to show interested developers how easy it is to create add-ons using the Builder and SDK. They are also an excellent platform for authors to demo add-ons they have created. It's simple to set one up and let the knowledge-sharing and mingling begin!

Venue

Moz Spaces are ideal for this type of meetup, because there is a presentation/demo portion and a socializing portion. But any mixed-use space would work.

Format

  • Time: weeknight, 6-8pm; allow 30 minutes at the beginning and end (6:00-6:30, 7:30-8:00) for socializing and refreshments
  • Speakers: 3 speaker slots (15 mins each), then open floor to community for 5-min lightening demos
  • Refreshments: hors d'oeuvres and beverages
  • Raffle: Mozilla gear

Promotion

Here are some ideas for promoting your event:

  • Create an event on ReMo
  • Get listed in the Upcoming Events section of About:Mozilla newsletter
  • Get a mention at the Monday All-Hands meeting
  • Reserve special gear for people who bring friends to the event and mention this in your invitation
