Get to know your colleagues! We'll gather people from across Creative, Engagement, Community and Communications to meet each other face-to-face. Put a  name to the e-mail thread and build working relationships for the  future.

How to Tell Your Story


Goal: Uplevel everyone's skills on how to tell your story well.

Navigating Web Literacy with Badge Pathways


Goal: Create web literacy pathways for our Discover prototype.
Deliverables: A web literacy pathway including a set of badges in the Discovery tool. 
(this could also be applicable to mozilla badge pathways)

Systems

How to MoFo: tips and tricks for cross-team sprints


Goal: create more standardized work sprint process across MoFo. To  work efficiently together, we need to be planning our sprints in a  similar manner.  Let's do RACI, meetings, planning etc with a common  process so we're operating efficiently. Then we'll put some of this into practice for some of our existing sprints on the Webmaker wiki.

Federal funding: dos and don'ts


Goal: Give people working on projects funded by federal funds the tools and  info needed to properly manage those projects as per federal  guidelines.  (It will be fun, we promise!) Let's also share what we learned during the NSF site  visit.

Manager Support Brownbag

Goal: provide (new) managers with insight and tools to effectively manage.   Highlight policies and processes that managers need to know. Provide   space for open discussion about needs, questions, worries, feedback
Lead: Angela
Collaborators: Angela King (MoCo HR) if this is on Thursday
Length: 1 hour

HR office hours

Ask a question, get more info, or give  feedback on HR issues and policies, experiences.
Angela P is on call for the whole week. Angela King from MoCo HR is also available on Thursday. Plus there's an HR/Ops feedback session on Monday.
The can be one on one, or in a small group. During lunch, or other off-agenda time.

Strategic fundraising and resources check in
Goal: inform the short-term development strategy and produce the first quarterly insight report.

Design

Whimsy for the win! How can more engaging & playful products get us closer to 10k contributors?

Goal: Understand the basics behind playful design theory -- and how it can make our user experiences more engaging and irresistible. Great design and fun experiences are a key part of why people want to engage and build with us. We'll talk about the "why" and the "how" to ultimately get us thinking about how to level up design across our products and get us closer to our 10k goal. In this session we will make hands-on prototypes for adding more whimsy across our products, community platforms and events.

Device and browser compatability: what's the story?


Our front end web dev team needs a document that outlines our device support. Aki will lead a process to document fact-based decisions.

AngularJS: from WTF to FTW


Webmaker's front end team is beginning to make use of AngularJS for our apps. Thar be many dragons! We'll walk through one of how our apps is created as a way to learn this bitchin' MVC framework.
