War on Orange meeting, October 13, 2010

We're waiting on help from releng for a couple of items; this may in turn be blocking metrics from work on their HBASE db.

Jmaher has added a couple of new statistics to Orange Factor: a frequency/commit/day line, and a 7-day moving average.

There are several outstanding bugs with Topfails related to bugs in the logparser, but we decided that Topfails functionality would eventually be rolled into our new dashboard, and thus it doesn't make sense to spend the time to integrate the new logparser into Topfails.

action items:

  • ctalbert
    • work with catlee to figure out where to install flume
  • jgriffin
    • work with catlee to see if there's some way to access test metadata that isn't in raw buildbot logs (e.g., OS version and timestamp)
    • investigate creating a modified version of the tinderbox page which would just generate a list of available logs
    • follow-up with metrics to see if they're blocked on anything from us
  • jmaher
    • work with jhammel to setup a copy of Orange Factor for statistics experimentation
  • jhammel
    • experiment with calculating and displaying various statistics with jmaher's data, to see which might be the most useful in identifying 'interesting' oranges
    • move his buildbot log collector onto another machine (murali's mini?), and get it to start saving all buildbot logs; these will be used to initialize the HBASE db when it's available, so that we have some historical data to work with
  • mcote
    • look at orange factor code and think about ways to modify it so that each view has a unique url that can be bookmarked/shared, etc.
