[18:33] <mschroeder|64kbit> okay, let's start the qa chat
[18:33] <mschroeder|64kbit> Our agenda: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_Chat:2008-03-13
[18:35] <mschroeder|64kbit> I think l10n testing was successful and we should retest the locales with checkins (only those marked as failed on the testplan?) after RC2 is out.
[18:36] <Andreas> Good idea.
[18:36] <mschroeder|64kbit> RC2 will be released Monday or Tuesday next week afaik.
[18:36] <Andreas> Maybe we could reduce the OS's.
[18:37] <mschroeder|64kbit> Good idea. I also think one OS is enough for the bugs we found.
[18:37] <mschroeder|64kbit> So we should have an official RC2 testday next Thursday.
[18:37] <nth10sd> mschroeder|64kbit: the l10n patches are out. there's only turkish left to be checked in on branch
[18:37] <Andreas> Yes, Daniel told me the RC2 timeline today.
[18:37] <nth10sd> s/branch/sunbird 0.8 branch
[18:37] <mschroeder|64kbit> nth10sd: great
[18:38] <nth10sd> there's one other zh-CN issue, you know about it?
[18:38] <mschroeder|64kbit> I saw your bug report, but don't know the details.
[18:39] <nth10sd> it's linguistics, but i don't know how it should be fixed
[18:39] <nth10sd> grammar stuff
[18:40] <mschroeder|64kbit> What should we test on testday? Migration from older versions and Litmus testcases for all OS.
[18:40] <mschroeder|64kbit> nth10sd: Does it depend on how we generate or format a string?
[18:40] <nth10sd> i think chinese is different from other languages in certain phrases
[18:41] <nth10sd> maybe the backend stuff could/should be changed for 0.9 or something, i don't think it should wait on 0.8
[18:41] <Andreas> I think this migration is a good point for the next test day.
[18:42] <nth10sd> mschroeder|64kbit: the string translates into "three 11" in chinese instead of "march 11"
[18:43] <mschroeder|64kbit> nth10sd: We have some deficits for l10n, e.g. in the event dialog. You're the first one reporting problems in the calendar views.
[18:44] <nth10sd> it's due to the short forms. the long form is equivalent to march for english, and the corresponding chinese is ok
[18:44] <nth10sd> the short form for english is mar, but there doesn't exist a similar short form for chinese.
[18:44] <mschroeder|64kbit> I think you should also file a bug for Calendar if you can't solve it with localization and prefix the summary with [l10n] or something similar.
[18:45] <nth10sd> in other words, the long form and short form should be the same in chinese, but right now he has it translated to march and "three"
[18:45] <mschroeder|64kbit> I see.
[18:46] <nth10sd> now whether this is specific to chinese i don't really know
[18:46] <nth10sd> mschroeder|64kbit: perhaps something fundamental should change for the affected locales, but this is too late for 0.8 game
[18:47] <mschroeder|64kbit> regarding migration testing... this should include all settings, calendars and especially the sqlite file. Maybe we should use a tool to read the database directly to verify everything works.
[18:49] <mschroeder|64kbit> also available as an add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5817
[18:49] * ssitter has joined #calendar-qa
[18:52] <mschroeder|64kbit> Andreas: What do you think?
[18:52] <nth10sd> mschroeder|64kbit: FWIW, the language thing already exists in 0.7, so all the more reason to push it for 0.9
[18:52] <nth10sd> agree?
[18:52] <mschroeder|64kbit> yup
[18:52] <Andreas> a tooling would be realy nice
[18:53] <mschroeder|64kbit> ssitter: What tool do you use to browse sqlite databases?
[18:54] <ssitter> mschroeder|64kbit: https://addons.mozilla.org/sunbird/addon/5817
[18:55] <mschroeder|64kbit> okay, great. that's was also my proposal before you joined the channel
[18:56] <ssitter> or SQLite Spy
[18:58] <mschroeder|64kbit> Andreas: I'll write the announcement as usual, and hope to be around on Thursday on a DSL line.
[18:59] <Andreas> Okay.
[18:59] <mschroeder|64kbit> ssitter: ah, okay. I also know SQLiteSpy but haven't used it for some time.
[19:01] <mschroeder|64kbit> Is there anything else QA related we should talk about?
[19:05] <Andreas> Nothing from my side. Hopefully we get RC2 next week. ;-)
[19:05] <mschroeder|64kbit> okay. Then we reached the end of the QA chat. Have a nice evening/day. :)
