Headline: Drumbeat: Local Engagement for Global Impact

For Drumbeat to be successful, we need to engage teachers, artists and designers, bloggers, lawyers and even enlightened people in government. We can only do that from the local level up, through face-to-face interactions.

  • query "even enlightened people in government?" not sure if that's the right message?
  • are we not going to mention the tech community at all? What if I'm a web developer?
  • Suggest: "For Drumbeat to be successful, we need to engage not only inspired geeks and tech people, but makers and doers everywhere -- teachers, artists and designers, bloggers, lawyers and community leaders from across the spectrum."
  • Not sure what "across the spectrum" communicates. Also, I think it's very important to prioritize non-geeks.  How about "For Drumbeat to be successful, we need to engage people with diverse talents and passions: teachers, artists and designers, bloggers, lawyers, and of course inspired geeks and tech people. We can only do that from the local level up, through face-to-face interactions."

3 text boxes across the top of the page:

Box #1: Participate in a Local Drumbeat Event

Already, we have organized powerful and participatory events in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Berlin, and Sofia. As we ramp up, we plan to organize dozens of events all over their world. Check out our calendar and map below to find an upcoming event near you.

  • Map is out of scope for May 14. We can add it late May / early June.

Would you like to organize a local Drumbeat event in your city? We’re looking for people who can organize events that are:

  • Active and participatory. We’re going to be making and building the open web. Less talk, more action!
  • Inviting to people who love the web, but may not be geeks. As part of Drumbeat, people can make more than software. Videos, universal subtitling, design projects, training courses, books, and more!
  • Weaving together local networks. Bringing together creative, web-loving folks to share their exciting local work with the global community.

If you'd like to organize a local event and want to learn more, please contact us [mailto: drumbeat-events@mozilla.org] and we'll be in touch shortly.

  • Dig deeper, receive feedback, and get support for projects through the open space sessions.
  • Keep the energy flowing! After participating in a large format local Drumbeat event, Mozilla will help you manage local and virtual project sprints.
