Email notification

It really bugs me that Thunderbird gives an e-mail notification for new items in the Trash (ie spam that has been diverted by the use of filters). As I get at most 10 genuine e-mails a day and hundreds of spam e-mails diverting in to the Trash, I don't want to be notified of more Spam arriving. Please could Thunderbird only notify for new items in the inbox.
