An important aspect of managing any project is to clearly communicate the overall schedule, upcoming deliverable dates, and next steps. Some of these communications may come up during the check-in meeting or other ad hoc meetings and keeping everyone on the same page increases the likelihood of meeting the project's goals.

Possible Actions

  • Announce a new major project at the Monday weekly update meeting or the monthly Engagement meeting.
  • Post a status update and a link to the project hub to yammer.
  • Email members of the RASCI and external stakeholders a short weekly update on the schedule, accomplishments, next steps, and any blockers.
  • Post status updates to a Mozilla or personal blog
  • Post updates to social media

Communication Recommendations

  • All communications should include a link to the project hub and/or a link to specifically read more about the topic of the communication.
  • Keep the content of your communication as short as possible and provide links if people want to read more. Headings, bullets, and short sentences are ideal and more web-friendly.
  • A smaller distribution list is better than bigger. People already get overwhelmed with information and adding more to their workload many not always be beneficial to the project.
