We are not blocking on Panning and Zooming
Beta 1: Shipping on 2-10; Focus marketing messaging on Start up, a brand new from-the-ground-up, *gorgeous* UI,and flash. What can users look forward to focusing on panning? Change in responsiveness; phones that were on the edge (single core phones) are much better in terms of warm start (this is a big deal). Ultimately, we think the product we have with Fennec Native has a clear value proposition and will offer a better user experience than the current XUL product in Beta.
What do we need to work on?
- Double tap to zoom: the fuzzy - to the crisp. Re-rendering at the new size; tile-by-tile rendering should be good for. We paint a very large area larger than the screen
- Scrolling up or down - gllayers is probably the only way we can truly fix this; to be competitive with safari on iphone (highest bar)
- Animations will be much slower than XUL
- Droid Pro we're better: warm start, cold start; we're happy
- What is the path with gllayers? BenWa and Patrick are working around the clock to get something stood up with OMTC; initializing not drawing anything, it is about wiring everything and checking on crashes and performance. Day-to-day: something on the screen; leads issues to eclaire, do we black list. We could uplift some of the stuff. Eclaire has the necessary stuff at the C++ level not at the Java level but we could ship the stuff in the andoird SDK that we are missing. Data: from Irina: ARMv6 2.1 devices: we know that. We might be able to gobble up the 7% on the product we have shipping. How do we communicate
