Festival2012/Submit/LiveCodeLab
* Title of session: LiveCodelab * Your name and affiliation: Davide Della Casa and Sophie McDonald, co-founders of sketchPatch (contact: info@sketchpatch.net ) * Session format: Learning Lab ===What will your session or activity allow people to make, learn or do?===
Participants will learn to use the LiveCodeLab livecoding environment (a section of the sketchPatch site, made by the sketchPatch team) at http://www.sketchpatch.net/labs/livecodelabIntro.html They will make their own livecode performance and show it to the audience.
They'll produce graphics like the followings:
===How do you see that working?===
A brief introduction will explain the basic commands and the simple language of the environment. A free-style session will follow, where I'll be helping anyone with any question. The third part of the session will involve each participant, who will show to everyone their tricks and their generated graphics.
===How will you deal with 5, 15, 50 participants?===
sketchPatch (Sophie and Davide, the two co-founders) have been organising teaching lessons before. We'll produce printed material and we'll introduce the language via the tutorials in the "tutorial" menu. We can provide projector for showing tutorials to the audience, if one is not provided already. Also up to three people from sketchPatch will be able to attend to cater for maximum turn-out.
===How long within your session before someone else can teach this?===
10 minutes. The site is public and the basic commands are really simple.
===What do you see as outcomes after the festival?===
Participants can go back to the site at any time. They can also download the environment from github and play with it in their own time.
