  • Title of session: Second Screen Prototyping
  • Your name and affiliation: Mark Boas, Knight-Mozilla OpenNews Fellow
  • Session format: Design Challenge

What will your session or activity allow people to make, learn or do?

Drawing for different experts and interested parties, we will discuss and demo second-screen concepts and propose possible technologies and solutions for creating second-screen applications.

We hope to create paper prototypes and sketches and blog ideas and links to demos and other inspirational second-screen work.

How do you see that working?

Various people from Al Jazeera English Online have expressed an interest in attending and Simon Klose who has created something 'Linkontrol' for The Pirate Bay AFK documentary is happy to demo (https://vimeo.com/35347980). I'm also hoping to get others involved from different news organisations and tech companies.

How will you deal with 5, 15, 50 participants?

I would aim to facilitate discussion and look at various demos and q&a as a whole and then split into smaller groups for paper-prototyping and then re-form for the discussion of those prototypes.

How long within your session before someone else can teach this?

Umm - not sure if this is a teachable thing or maybe I don't understand the question.

What do you see as outcomes after the festival?

A comprehensive write-up of our findings and possible creation of an online group of people with similar interests.
