Upcoming Firefox Releases
Firefox 3.0.15 / Firefox 3.5.4
- after a couple re-spins, we think we're good
- went to beta yesterday with both releases
- targeting next Tuesday (October 27) for release
Namoroka
- revised beta 1 schedule
- October 18th, 11:59pm PDT: Code freeze on mozilla-1.9.2, all P1 blockers landed
- October 19th: Beta 1 builds available
- October 19th-27th: QA testing
- October 28th, 5pm PDT: Beta 1 launched
Fennec 1.0x beta 5
- code freeze on Oct 27/28th
- currently targeting November 9th for release
- localization, plugins, and better performance are key deliverables
Seamonkey 2.0
- second RC was available early this week
- they are planning on doing a final release shortly

Product Development
as always, you can read the development meeting notes as well, but here are the big items:
Firefox 3.6 / mozilla-1.9.2
- all teams now focusing on remaining blockers and nominations
- one potentially large change still coming to session restore optimization - will know by the end of the week
- roc is discussing potentially changing the syntax for CSS gradients
- potential long poles are
- bug 500200 - windows CE image corruption
- Silverlight 3 doesn't work, roc needs help getting a contact at Microsoft
- Aero Peek tab preview is a little big buggy at the moment (see dependents of bug 474056
future / mozilla-central
- josh is trying to resolve a system sqlite conflict before being able to get to 64-bit builds on OSX
- JS team found something costing us 15% on SunSpider, looking into resolving
- startup time improvements are getting hard to measure reliably
- process separation for plugins getting more and more solid, also now working on full process separation on mobile devices (Fennec/Maemo)
Localization
- progress on defining what builds need to generate for Fennec, both multi-locale and single locale builds for maemo. Armen and the mobile team to make progress in Toronto
- strings for Firefox 3.6 RC started to land on 1.9.2, window open 'til Friday. Details on signaling more bugs in .planning in post by beltzner.
QA
- Fx 3.6 QA
- QA cycle for 3.6b1(build2) in progress. Working on basic functional tests across platforms.
- Bugs filed during this 3.6b1 cycle.
- Previus Testday: Web site compatibility - Friday, Oct 16
- Had a max of 26 in the testday channel at its peak
- Major contributors outside mozQA: AaronMT, satdav and misafir
- 2 bugs filed on the day
- Next Testdays: Test-scripting with Mozmill Thur/Fri Oct 29/30
- Fennec:
- Cleaner patch submitted for windows mobile talos ts
- have ran mochitest and xpcshell on windows mobile with new test-agent
- working on packaging up browser-chrome tests so we can start running on tinderbox
- Tegra:
- Communicated OS issues to development team and awaiting new OS drop
Release Engineering
- Typically not waiting long for slave availability during releases; up to 15 minutes sometimes for Mac en-US builds (which usually finish before Windows builds anyway!)
Add-ons
- AMO 5.2 launched last night with support for Personas and new statistics for developers
- Add-on Compatibility Reporter will be launched today
- AMO 5.3 development kicked off today (stub entries, contributions II, html/links in add-on descriptions)
- Jorge kicking off 3.6 compatibility push with email today or tomorrow. Currently at 34%
- Add-ons Meetup in MV Tuesday
Web Dev
- Socorro
- please send socorro requests to morgamic, not lars -- he's getting slammed
- Daniel has a metrics plan for 100% processing
- The current Socorro team has posted a Q4 roadmap and we'll be meeting with Daniel this Thursday to discuss/avoid/optimize overlap
- Plugins
- We're finishing l10n for the checker
- Next we're focusing on creating a public directory with a vendor panel as well as ability to crowd source management of plugin data

- Personas
- Most server stuff figured out for mozilla.com -> addons.mozilla.org -> getpersonas.com interactions. Webdev is on track.
Partners
Evangelism
- Survey is launched and we're getting good responses - important question is the cust sat number for developers.
- Docs underway, feel like File stuff is late but that's because there only kinda sort a spec.
- Paul is working on demos for 3.6.
Marketing/PR
- Plugin page went live last Tuesday: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Page is performing well: 445K page views since release ~ 56K pv per day; compared to the personal.html page has 545K in 8 days ~ 68K pv per day but we need to find better ways to bring traffic in.
- Working on a dynamic button project to bring more traffic in
- Adwords Campaigns
- Next Phase of the project is wrapping up l10n of the pages and refining the self-service directory so that vendors can update information about their plugins (working on the work-flow, ue and policies).
- Page is performing well: 445K page views since release ~ 56K pv per day; compared to the personal.html page has 545K in 8 days ~ 68K pv per day but we need to find better ways to bring traffic in.
