Overall Status of Locales

This is generally for tracking the work flow of Localizer, Trademark planning, QA testing and release. It allows us to visualize how well we are completing tasks as we move toward final release.

Legend

  • Locale Owner Signoff
    • Locale owner has run through the main ares of the product to ensure no obvious font or layout issues. The initial sign-off should be more thorough to ensure any string changes or layout changes have been accounted for in the locale.
  • Tier
    • A classification based on number of users, market share, and partnerships
  • Trademark planning
    • Indication that configurations including URLs, bookmarks, search engines, RSS feeds, search suggest, etc are clearly identified.
    • We will be having tracking bugs included here that list the trademark guidelines and accepted deviation requests.
  • Language Skilled Review
    • Review by individuals separate from the Locale team have reviewed each locale for an objective perspective. We have independent community members, a team from Sun Microsystems, and a L10n vendor lined up to review the Tier 1 and Tier 2 locales.
  • QA Signoff
    • This includes:
      • spot checking locales, particularly Tier 3
      • Performing a user-based trademark review
      • And spot-checking any special regional distributions
