Jetpack in South America

  • hernan colmeira is doing two talks in buenos aires (hack day today, SDK talk at mozcamp itself)
  • additional talk at event in santiago, chile next saturday; he's very excited!

actions from previous meeting

gozala and dietrich to meet re: what needs to be done to land loader

  • met, discussed, gozala created set of bugs on SDK side
  • main bug is bug 743359
  • gozala working on fixing issues
  • we should have a loader that can load itself
  • once we're done with that we should be able to land it
  • won't be able to work on it next week because folks are in toronto
  • -> dietrich and gozala to discuss details of landing loader with mossop and produce landing plan

spring cleaning

  • gozala put together page on things to clean up in SDK codebase [1]
  • stuff that doesn't fit anymore, but which imposes cost
  • some changes are breaking
  • everything will be deprecated before it is removed
  • and then we'll shout it from the treetops
  • the list is not yet complete

social api

  • addon that interacts with things like facebook and twitter
  • targeted to land in firefox 15
  • wants to be bundled as an addon
  • might be jetpack-based
  • been getting pings from sheila and some people working on it about accelerating it into firefox 15
  • might ask those people to come to this meeting, perhaps next one, to get broader feedback and get them familiarized with what we're talking about here
  • biggest hurdle is working with partners has led to situation where there isn't finality in product: how can we land this, but also what does it do
  • dietrich pushing to get more solidity about what it is and what it should do before talking about landing

synchronous file apis

  • some file apis are synchronous
  • we need to convert those to async file io
  • gozala is waiting for review from ochameau
  • canuckistani found it difficult to incorporate jetpack-io into package
