Agenda

  • Comm Dev
    • Tools proposal, first response was to make it more open ended, alignment of missions similar to grant for Miro player
    • Pootle Tool
    • Demo May 8 or 9 on Pootle
    • Key Concern - is timing, needs to move faster so Wil can make a decision about tool choice
    • Action: SethB get demo or pretend locale to play with from Pootle team
  • Theory - attract more techies when start out with technical localizer
  • Fx3 final prep/status
    • in-product pages: all of Tier 1 ready (german 1 page left, zh-CN almost done), Tier 2 in good shape, Tier 3 coming along expected in 3.x release
    • QA: hasn't started yet, focus on Tier 1 and do most of Tier 2 (best efforts), Tier 3 won't be covered by QA; there are product page locale specific bugs (not yet created for QA), can use special key word in whiteboard, "ar QA in-product pages for Fx3"
    • A few bugs outstanding, SSL, romanian dictionary, bug 426835
    • Bug 408331, need some help from QA here ACtION; Tim to talk to Coop

  • Summit
    • Current list is core localizers (shipped locales); how critical was their involvement in release of Fx3
    • The current list is the owners of locales we ship; poked mic and pascalc to add people that are just very helpful
    • (1)agenda of meeting is to get handle on what want to do for next 2 years, set context for what's happened and what are challenges -- anyone who will be valuable to helping us produce that outcome; what role does firefox play in keeping web open, detailed breakout session for groups like L10n what we need to do; (2)for example might want to do better targeting of which localization we want to help out; (3) number of teams duplicating efforts like Spanish, Portugease and determine better way to coordinate their work is another good overall objective (that's why Pascal proposed the folks he did as an example); (4)raising awareness of localization issues on general product development cycle; (5) Firefox 3 post mortem session from localizers; (6) how do we keep up with expanding services and ensure we have localization team coverage, what's the tool box needed (pascal doing some work on this in europe); (7) figure out better methods for growing testing teams in Tier 2 and 3
    • Action: get list of cross locale teams that would benefit from cross collaboration. Pascalc/Mic on cross locale collab and Mic/SethB on free form stuff
