L10n:Test Strategy:Beta Testers

This is testing of the locale by beta testers. It is a parallel to the testing of en-US by Beta Channel testers or nightly testers. There is often a more targeted call for testers in the locale. Testing is done by native language readers/speakers. These are people we hope will use the new locale extensively and provide feedback to the locale team. These are not meant to be formal testers running test cases.

Levels of Beta testing:

  1. No Beta testing
  2. 0.1% of user base tests the beta version
  3. 0.5% of the user base tests the beta version (WW the amount of Beta users amount to 0.5% of the DAUs)
  4. 1.0% of the user base tests the beta version

Comments:

  1. how does a localizer find their locale's beta testing number?
  2. should be able to share metrics, but how?
  3. could we use the start page on the beta channel to show how a user could connect to a localizer.
    1. Hendrix? But, for locale specific issues, probably want to go directly to the localizers.
