Test planning is important to a well organized testing program. The plan should identify the key areas of testing, which areas won't be tested given the time and resources available to the locale team. The test plan should be release specific (example: for Firefox 3.1), whereas the test Strategy should be more general to the product and/or the locale team. Keep in mind the Mozilla QA team or a third party with native language skills are available to help with planning and possibly some of the testing.

Levels of test planning:

  1. No plan in place
  2. basic plan for initial translation testing
  3. Specific plan for translation testing, beta testing, and release testing
  4. Add specific test cases listed which can be executed from the plan or turned into litmus test cases. This could also include plans for test tools and automated test cases.
