Meeting Notes - 5/31/2012:

1) Update on getUserMedia and media engine fallback (Anant, Suhas)

  • Lots of progress; hoping to land before/over the weekend depending on reviews.
  • Suhas has a mostly-working WIP patch for getUserMedia for desktop - jesup and others have tried it. Yeah!

2) Update on DTLS Transport work (EKR)

  • Deferred to later since EKR was not available

3) Update on signaling work (Enda, Ethan, Suhas, Randell)

  • Enda about to be unavailable until the 11th, and will be 1/2 time for two weeks after that.
  • Enda put a new patch up for feedback, Ethan will be working against that. Suhas will be working the AbstractMediaEngine now that he's mostly done with getUserMedia desktop backend stuff.

4) Update on data channels (Randell)

  • Just got an update from SCTP/FreeBSD devs. They finished the upper-layer rewrite (and some other bits) and are about to start the lower/DLTS interface layer.

5) Update on congestion control BoF (Randell)

  • Sat. July 28th, Vancouver, all day. Room for 60, short papers or position statements from attendees required (with some exceptions). Lots of interest.
  • We plan to try to keep the BoF and WG (at least intially) focused on producing a short-term draft/RFC for delay-avoidance ala the Google algorithm, instead of starting by fixing the Entire Web.

6) Update on the landing plan progress (Randell)

  • Landing deferred until after uplift of FF15 to avoid destabilization or churn.
  • khuey is on vacation this week (for real, for once).
  • License patch is r+'d, others are up (minor fixes needed, nothing major known). glandium gave feedback+ on the makesystem patch, which is a good sign.

7) Discuss any current blockers for people or new items

  • None

8) Any updates needed to the project map?

  • Randell made updates (mostly bumping things forward that haven't happened).
  • Need to update getUserMedia portions some more, expand/modify signaling.
  • Things are bunched, people are asked to review and update if they're not reasonable.

9) Discuss any questions/outstanding issues with WebRTC architecture wiki page: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Media/WebRTC/Architecture

  • Looks great!

AFTER MEETING NOTES:

  • Next week we go back to our regular meeting time: Tuesdays at 8am Pacific
  • We realized that we had maxed out on capacity (max 10 people can hangout) during the hangout so some people couldn't get in. So next week we will try WebEx.
