Mozilla CRM/donatepage

To get the donation page for Mozilla Foundation up and running as expeditiously as possible, this page will function as a space to document the remaining steps needed to push this page live.

Note that the launch of this page has been delayed by three months and it's absence is a negatively affecting Mozilla Foundation revenues.

Current situation and next steps

Please edit this list to add in items to be added to this process

  • 1. Need to know from Tellon what the changes are on the SVN. (requested)
  • 2. Get documentation from Trellon on using the paths module. (requested)
  • 3. Updating the code on our stage server (now at mozillians-broken.stage.mozilla.com) by checking it out from SVN
  • 4. Configuring the path module so that the only page we can access is the donations page (need instructions from Marc or give IT a chance to do it)
  • 5. Configuring the site to redirect to the donations page for all other URLs (not sure if this is a path module config or if IT needs to do some webserver rewrites)
  • 6. QA: Send email to the webqa team (webqa@mozilla.org) to give them a heads up on your requirements for testing the donations page... they need some time to setup their test plan and days to work on this.
  • 7. Decide whether we want to: 1. redirect people to the donations page 2. setup a landing page with a "coming soon.." message
  • 8. Launch?

Known issues

IT moved the old staging server to mozillians-broken, not sure what needs to happen before they "allow" us to launch the donations page

Mozillians.org

  • Based on the last few meetings with IT, it was decided that Trellon would help get everything configured and working correctly on the VM (since Jeremy was not familiar with the search tool used for the site). Once that is done, Jeremy will try to replicate that on the original staging server so we can retest to make sure everything is working.
  • THEN, they need to figure out how to setup the production environment to support the new search tool and hopefully if that all goes well, we can launch (keeping my fingers crossed that it will be by mid-January).
