This is our official wiki page for Mozilla Gujarat Community.

Mozilla Gujarat is the local Mozilla community in Gujarat working to spread the Mozilla mission. We are a team of highly enthusiastic and energetic opensource lovers who not just love opensource but care for and advocate for the open web.

We are part of the global community of Mozilla Foundation. Our mission is to promote openness, innovation & opportunity on the Web. We are team of awesome people spread across Gujarat in India.

Our aim is to protect and promote the Mozilla Mission – the openness, innovation and opportunity on the web. We want to spread the love and awareness about all things Mozilla. Be it Firefox, or WebMaker, Web Literacy or anything about the opensource; we are all excited to work on and take it to the next level in Gujarat to help the emerging technology students, tech professionals and the awesome Mozilla users gain the maximum power of the web!

Internal organization

We are a meritocracy group like the rest of Mozilla.

Categories

  • Users: Anyone who visits the site.
  • Casual contributors: Users that contribute to the community from time to time in different projects.
  • Core contributors: A casual contributor who has been participating actively for at least 6 months or more could be proposed as a core contributor or member. If you are going to be inactive or you stop contributing you will be again a casual contributor.
  • Owners: Casual or core contributors who are in-charge of a Task Force Area. The role of Owner is responsible for defining tasks, prioritize to get the best possible progress and review its implementation.
  • Peers: Casual or core contributors who want to help newcomers to get into the community. This is an additional responsibility.

Areas Of Contribution & Task Force Teams

Anyone who cares about the Web, loves Firefox or believes in Mozilla's mission can join the community and start contributing to the projects. You don't have to be a C++ guru to be able to contribute to Mozilla. There are several areas that one can contribute to based on how much time they have, even if that's just 5 minutes!

Core Contributor - Roles & Responsibilities

This section summarizes the basic roles & responsibilities of our contributors.

Social Media

As a social media contributor, you will be handling our social media channels including our official Facebook page, Twitter account and Instagram account to reach our wide-spread community members. Some general duties will include posting various news/events updates, sharing useful relevant resources and replying to comments/questions of the community on these social media channels.

Blogging/Content Writing

As a blogging and content writing contributor (writer), you will be writing and sharing the top-notch quality content to our community. On regular basis, you will be writing our official blog (under your very own identity and authorship) about our upcoming events, news, contributor stories, event reports, community spotlight stories and anything interesting about the community, opensource and Mozilla. You will get your personal named official Mozilla Gujarat author account to publish the content written by you!

Graphic Design

As a graphic design contributor, you will be designing various creatives for social media (mainly for Facebook), website banners, event posters and event badges for the community events. You may also be designing branding materials such as flyers, newsletters etc.

Web Design & Dev.

As a web design & development contributor, you will be looking after our official website. Your core responsibility would be maintaining the website's backend and frontend, updating website with available content like photos, videos, blog posts etc.
