This page shows you what can you do with the Mozillian Phonebook Administration Panel.

First off, head over to https://www.mozillians.org/admin/ to access the panel. If you can't, contact William Reynolds.

Contents

Users

Change a user's First Name, Last Name, username, E-mail Address and password

  1. Click on "Users" within the Auth section
  2. Search for the user by the first/last name, userid or e-mail address
  3. Click on the user you wish to select.
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Make a user an Administrator

  1. Click on "Users" within the Auth section
  2. Search for the user by the first/last name, userid or e-mail address
  3. Click on the user you wish to select.
  4. Under "Permissions" check the "Staff status" and "Superuser status" checkbox.
  5. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Delete a user

(WARNING: REMEMBER, YOU CANNOT UNDO THIS)

  1. Click on "Users" within the Auth section
  2. Search for the user by the first/last name, userid or e-mail address
  3. Click on the user you wish to delete
  4. Click on "Delete" in the user profile
  5. Click on "Yes I'm Sure"

Edit the Groups or Skills section for a user

  1. Click on "Users" within the "Auth" section.
  2. Click on the user who's profile you would like to edit.
  3. Under Groups and Skills, highlight or un-highlight the Groups & Skills you would like to add or remove (respectively) from the user's profile.
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Change/Delete the Profile Picture for a user

  1. Click on "Users" within the "Auth" section.
  2. Click on the user who's profile you would like to edit.
  3. Under "Photo", you can do two things:
    • Change the profile picture by clicking on "Browse" and selecting th image from your filesystem.
    • Delete the profile picture by click on the "Clear" checkbox
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Add/Edit/Remove Website, Display name, Bio or IRC Nickname of the user

  1. Click on "Users" within the "Auth" section.
  2. Click on the user who's profile you would like to edit.
  3. Under "Website", "Bio" or "IRC Nickname" text fields, you can do three things:
    • Add appropriate text into the fields
    • Edit the text in those fields
    • Remove the text in those fields
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Vouch a User

  1. Search for a user using the user-facing search tool
  2. Find the user's profile (at a URL like: https://mozillians.org/en-US/u/username)
  3. Click on the "Vouch For [Name]" button

Unvouch a User

  1. Click on "Users" within the "Auth" section of the /admin panel
  2. Click on the user whose profile you would like to edit
  3. Uncheck the "is vouched checkbox to un-vouch the user
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page

Change who Vouched a specific Mozillian

This functionality does not currently exist.


Groups

Add a group

  1. Click on "Groups" within the Groups section.
  2. On the top right, click on "Add a Group"
  3. Fill out the required name and url fields and any other optional fields you would like to choose. (NOTE: description, IRC channel, website, and wiki will not show on its Phonebook group page unless a Steward is selected for the group).
  4. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Make a Curated Group

  1. Click on "Groups" within the Groups section.
  2. Find the group you want to edit and click on it.
  3. In the "Steward" row entry, select a person from the list.
  4. Add in content into the Description, IRC Channel(s), Website and Wiki fields.
  5. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Edit a Group

  1. Click on "Groups" within the Groups section.
  2. Find the group you want to edit and click on it.
  3. Change any field on the page.
  4. In the "Steward" row entry, select a person from the list.
  5. Add in content into the Description, IRC Channel(s), Website and Wiki fields (NOTE: description, IRC channel, website, and wiki will not show on its Phonebook group page unless a Steward is selected for the group).
  6. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Merge a group

  1. Click on "Groups" within the Groups section.
  2. Find the group you want to KEEP and click on it.
  3. In the section called "Merge with:", find the group you want to merge into this one; select it in the multi-selector and click the arrow between the two boxes. You can accomplish more than one merge at a time; all merged groups will redirect to the group you're editing.
  4. Verify that ONLY the groups you want to merge are in the right-hand box.
  5. Click on "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Delete a Group

  1. Click on "Groups" within the Groups section.
  2. Find the group you want to delete and select the checkbox on its row entry
  3. In the "Actions" drop down select box, choose "Delete selected groups".
  4. Click on "Go".

API & Apps

Adding an App via Admin Panel

  1. Click on "add" on the "API apps" row
  2. Fill in the Name, Description, URL and Owner fields based on information detailed in the approved Data Safety bug.
  3. Leave the "Key" field empty
  4. Check the "Is Mozilla App" box if the app lives on mozilla.org
  5. Check the "Is Active"
  6. Click on "Save"
  7. Comment in the approved Data Safety bug and close it as "Resolved FIXED"
