Smoketests

Detailed Smoketest results

Lite verification tests (or smoketests) will be first run when the builds are ready. Tests are available on litmus under the Fennec 7.0 Test Suite. In any case of failure in any Smoketest, blockers need to be raised ASAP before proceeding to the BFTs.

Bug Fixes

• bug 680802 - Upgrade Firefox when there is an add-on update waiting to be installed uninstalls the add-on

Chempsill Fix Verification

Steps to verify fix:

1. Install Firefox 6.0
2. Install an add-on which is compatible to Firefox 7.0 but not the latest version of the add-on (Try URL Fixer by installing Version 3.0)
3. Restart Firefox to install the add-on
4. Check for and download the update for the add-on (DO NOT INSTALL IT BY RESTARTING), it should update to 3.1
5. Exit or kill Firefox 6.0 and install Firefox 7.0.1 by replacing the install
6. Check that the add-on is not missing from the add-ons manager, and that it is active and usable.

Expected Result: The add-on in step 6 should still be listed, active and usable

Second verification

1. Install Firefox 6.0
2. Install an add-on which is compatible to Firefox 7.0 but not the latest version of the add-on (Try URL Fixer by installing Version 3.0)
3. Restart Firefox to install the add-on
4. Check for and download the update for the add-on (DO NOT INSTALL IT BY RESTARTING), it should update to 3.1
5. Exit or kill Firefox 6.0 and install Firefox 7.0 by replacing the install
6. Check that the add-on is now missing (bug 680802) from the add-ons manager
7. Exit or kill Firefox 7.0 and install Firefox 7.0.1 by replacing the install
8. Check that the add-on is not missing from the add-ons manager, and that it is active and usable.

Expected Result: The add-on should still be listed, active and usable

Please verify the fix with both restartless (e.g., an add-on such as Cleary) and restart add-ons (e.g, Persona's).

Spot checking the fix on a couple locales. Check the fix on a Western European locale, Chinese and Arabic.

  • nhirata: Hot fix verified in Japanese.
  • nhirata: Hot fix verified in French.
  • nhirata: Hot fix verified in Arabic ; Arabic plugin becomes disabled for 7.0.1 due to not being for that build and language reverts to English; Arabic versions of the upgraded plugins are still installed and works.
  • nhirata: Hot fix verified in Simplified Chinese; Chinese plugin becomes disabled for 7.0.1 due to not being for that build and language reverts to English; Chinese versions of the upgraded plugins are still installed and works.
