Major Update Test Results: Firefox 2.0.0.20 to Firefox 3.0.10

Instructions

  • Download Firefox 2.0.0.20
  • Install it and change the update channel to betatest (followed by "beta", "releasetest", and "release" as we progress in testing and releases)
  • Restart the browser and select "Check for Updates" from the Help menu
  • Follow the Litmus test suite for major update Fx2-Fx3 Major Update list
  • Make sure all user data is preserved or make a note of what is not.
  • Use major-updated Fx3 and check all is well.

Unsupported OSs (Make sure MU is not presented) on betatest

  • Win98 (en-US) (abillings) - PASS
    • Should not get update
  • Linux - GTK older than 2.10.x (abillings)- RESULT
    • Tested with Ubuntu 6.06.
    • Distros with GTK older than 2.10.x should not get update (like older Ubuntu)

beta

Change the update channel to beta and check for major updates. Details pages should be localized.
